Lara Briden BSc, ND is a naturopathic doctor and author of the bestselling books Period Repair Manual and Hormone Repair Manual. She has 25 years’ experience in women’s health and sits on several scientific advisory committees.

With the same thoroughness and deep understanding of female hormones that Lara described in her perimenopause presentation, she explains the mechanisms of ovulation and the health impacts which occur when women’s ovulatory cycles are irregular or not occurring. The health benefits of ovulation originate in the production of estrogen and progesterone, both required for bone, cardiovascular and brain health. Assessing amenorrhea and irregular periods are covered and importantly, differentiating between hypothalamic amenorrhea and PCOS, two conditions that despite some similarities are obviously very different. Finally, Lara looks at the treatment for both of those conditions, including her paper on the promising cyclic progesterone therapy for PCOS.
