As Dietitians it’s important we are aware of the signs, symptoms and treatments of hypoglycaemia so we can confidently explain the management of hypos to our clients. Practice Points; E.g. – diabetics often over-treat their hypos which may lead to hyperglycaemia later, which may cause person to over correct with insulin, which may cause another and more severe hypo later – over time if hypos are over-treated can lead to increased HbA1C and weight gain.
