Dietitians have an important role in managing a client with suspected histamine intolerance.
When working with individuals who present with a combination of respiratory, neurological and gut symptoms then consider histamine intolerance. The evidence base is growing in this area and trialing a low histamine diet along with DAO enzyme supplementation may prove beneficial.

Adriana Duelo is a Spanish dietitian with a Master’s in Nutrition and Public health. She is currently finishing her PhD at the University of Barcelona examining the amines and bioactive polyamines of food.
She is a member of the scientific committee of the International Society of DAO Deficiency and is actively involved in the clinical and scientific advances of histamine metabolic disorder.
