About the Presenter
Dr Danielle (Danni) Bear, PhD, APD currently serves in a dual role at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she is a Senior ICU Dietitian and Allied Health Project Manager within the Adult Burns Service. Before relocating to Australia, Danni had an extensive 15-year career at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) in London, where she worked as a Consultant Dietitian. She also held a position as Clinical Academic Lecturer at King’s College London.
Danni has a strong passion for research, having completed a prestigious Health Education England / National Institute for Health Research (HEE/NIHR) Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship. Her research focused on the measurement and prevention of skeletal muscle wasting in critically ill patients, examining its impact on recovery. She has contributed to several high-profile randomized controlled trials, including the CALORIES and EFFORT Protein Trials, both of which investigated nutrition interventions in critically ill patients.
Throughout her career, Danni has received numerous accolades, including being honored four times on the British Dietetic Roll of Honor. She was recognized for her exceptional leadership in the Critical Care Specialist Group and for her instrumental work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Danni is also deeply committed to supporting and mentoring fellow dietitians, helping them gain confidence in their practice through education and guidance.
