About the Presenter
Louise Mudge, BSc (Hons) MND APD
Louise Mudge has more than 20 years of clinical experience both in private practice as well as her previous role as Senior Dietitian for Digestive Diseases, Royal Adelaide Hospital. This involved coordinating nutrition and dietetic services to the Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery, Colorectal and Professorial Oesophago-Gastric teams. During 2010-2015 she was the Trial Coordinator for a NHMRC funded multicentre RCT evaluating perioperative immunonutrition use in patients undergoing oesophageal cancer resection.
Her main specialties include managing patients with GORD, achalasia, motility disorders, gastric and oesophageal cancer. Currently she is involved in a study investigating percent reduction in liver volume over time following preoperative VLCD use in patients prior to laparoscopic fundoplication. The results of this study may guide length of time required for preoperative VLCD use in patients undergoing laparoscopic anti reflux surgery and whether liver ultrasound can be reliably used to track reduction in liver volume.
