About the Presenter

Dr Janet Franklin is a senior clinical dietitian and research coordinator at Metabolism and Obesity Services, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, and a guest lecturer on obesity management at both the University of Sydney and University of Wollongong. Janet completed her PhD in psychosocial aspects of childhood obesity, but has spent most of her research career looking at adult clinical obesity. Her research topics have included nutritional literacy in the obese, physical activity measures, eating styles and psychological predictors of weight loss, use of the Very Low Energy Diet, benefits of group-based weight loss programmes, injury in the obese, management techniques in people with Prader-Willi Syndrome and bariatric surgery in the public sector. Janet founded and chaired for 10 years the DAA State and then National Obesity Interest Group.
