About the Presenter

From 1995 to 2015, Clinical Psychologist, Dr Tony McHugh, was principal psychologist and manager of Trauma-Related Mental Health Services for Austin Health. He set up comprehensive psychological treatment programs for severely traumatised Australian Defense Force (ADF) personnel, combat veterans and community groups, especially for police and other emergency services personnel. Dr McHugh was also a psychological consultant to Phoenix Australia (the Centre for Post-traumatic Mental Health), the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria, WorkSafe Victoria, the Victorian Police Association and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Today, Dr McHugh is a Senior Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry (University of Melbourne), an Associate of Swinburne University and Patron of the Retired Peer Support Program of Victoria Police. He continues to conduct research into trauma-related mental health conditions, PTSD and particularly meaning and anger-related PTSD/stress conditions. As an accredited psychological supervisor, Dr Tony McHugh conducts regular supervision with psychologists in government-funded positions and in private practice across Australia.
