About the Presenters
Dr Amanda Cross BPharm (Hons), GradCert (Pharm Prac), PhD
Dr Amanda Cross is a research fellow in dementia at the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety, Monash University. Amanda completed her PhD with Monash University in 2019 focussing on optimising medication use and medication management in older people with cognitive impairment. Amanda’s research interests primarily relate to medicine safety and quality use of medicines in older people, particularly those at risk of developing dementia or who are currently living with dementia. She has published 13 articles in scientific journals, including 10 first author articles.
Amanda continues to practice in a clinical role as a community pharmacist and home medication review pharmacist. She is an active member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and has been the Victorian Branch Vice President for the past three years (2018-2021). In 2019 Amanda won the award for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Victorian Early Career Pharmacist of the Year.
Dr Natali Jokanovic BPharm (Hons), GradCert (Pharm Prac), PhD
Dr Natali Jokanovic is a hospital pharmacist and researcher based at the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Alfred Hospital and Monash University. She is currently a project manager for a clinical trial implementing antimicrobial stewardship across 12 Victorian residential aged care facilities.
Natali completed her PhD in 2019 at the Centre of Medicine Use and Safety, Monash University, focusing on understanding and addressing polypharmacy in residential aged care facilities. Her research activities have since included translational research projects targeting medication use and deprescribing in the older population. Natali’s primary research interests include the optimisation of medications in older people with a particular interest in residential aged care.
