About the Presenter
Paddy Dempsey is an exercise physiologist and PhD candidate (expected June 2016) at the Baker IDI Heart & Diabetes Institute Physical Activity, Behavioural Epidemiology and Metabolic & Vascular Physiology Laboratories, and the Central Clinical School, Monash University. He completed both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Human Physiology and in Sport and Exercise Sciences, University of Otago, New Zealand. Most recently, Paddy’s research studies include both an epidemiological and experimental focus, with the aim of understanding the potential for preventing and managing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease through reducing or interrupting sedentary behaviour. He recently completed a randomised clinical trial in patients with type 2 diabetes: The REWARD RCT study – REsistance and WAlking breaks in Reducing Diabetes.
