About the Presenter

Susan Wood is a registered dietitian based in the United Kingdom. In 2008, the positive impact of ketogenic diet (KD) therapy on the life of one young adult referred for drug-resistant epilepsy sparked her interest in the untapped potential for this population group. Since 2009 she has worked alongside the UK-registered charity Matthew’s Friends, offering support to adults and their neurology teams seeking KD therapy access. In 2011 she joined the newly formed Matthew’s Friends Clinics and continues to lead on the treatment of adults with drug-resistant epilepsy. Since then, she has also supported adults with brain tumours (and their neuro-oncology teams) keen to trial this novel approach to manage disease symptoms and improve the quality of their daily lives. A British National Health Service trial of ketogenic therapy in brain tumour patients is now in the planning stages.
