About the Presenter
Atlanta Miall is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), Accredited Nutritionist (AN) and Accredited Sports Dietitian (AccSD). She completed her Bachelor Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics at Monash University as well as her Post Graduate Honours Degree. During her post graduate journey, Atlanta led an innovative research project investigating the research question, ‘Does gut-training reduce gastrointestinal symptoms and carbohydrate malabsorption during endurance running in thermoneutral environmental conditions?’ Her research set out to determine whether gastrointestinal symptoms and carbohydrate malabsorption could be reduced in endurance athletes by training the gut to cope with a substantial carbohydrate load. Atlanta has presented her research findings at the Nutrition Society of Australia and Sports Dietitians of Australia conferences as well as the Monash University Ultra Endurance Symposium. This research has now been published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports. Atlanta is currently working in private practice, predominantly with the general population and athletes who suffer from gastrointestinal issues.
