About the Presenter

Eileen Collins is a Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) who has been working in the area of diabetes for over 25 years. She is a registered nurse (Division 1) and midwife working within the diabetes education services team at Diabetes Victoria.  As part of her role, she works with people with all types of diabetes, conducts health professional training, and develops programs and resources for people with diabetes and health professionals. Eileen is also a facilitator for the Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating (OzDAFNE) Program, and temporarily working in the role of National Oz DAFNE Program Co-ordinator

Eileen was involved in the development of the curriculum for the Teens Empowered to Actively Manage Diabetes (TEAM T1) Program — facilitating the program, training other facilitators and being involved in its evaluation. She also produces the diabetes management content for several online resources, including four modules for the Australian Physiotherapy Association, and diabetes education for people working in the area of mental health. Eileen currently facilitates a nurse-led diabetes clinic in general practice where she regularly assists and supports people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in all aspects of self-management.
