About the presenter
Paul Fieldhouse is a nutritionist who has spent a career split between academia and the public service. Paul earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Philosophy degrees in England, and his interdisciplinary doctorate in Food, Economics and Religion at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. Paul has taught at universities in the UK and Canada and is currently adjunct professor at the University of Manitoba. He recently retired from 25 years in the public service, where he was the nutrition policy consultant to the Government of Manitoba, working on issues such as school nutrition and food security in indigenous communities. In 2015 he was made a Fellow of Dietitians of Canada. Paul has had a lifelong interest in food and culture, a topic on which he has spoken at conferences around the world, and he has published a number of books on that topic – including an upcoming encyclopedia of Food, Feasts and Faith, to be published in 2017.
