About the presenter
Mel Reid is senior dietitian at the Southern Fleurieu campus of the Hills, Southern Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island Community Health Service in South Australia, where she has worked as a rural generalist dietitian for the past 29 years. Before this, she spent a few years as a part-time clinical dietitian at Adelaide’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, as well as five years part-time at what is now Diabetes Australia South Australia. She also runs a part-time private practice. Mel has a keen interest in resource development, and has developed numerous client education resources for Country Health SA dietitians. This interest led to the development of a resource on diet and gout. In 2012, she was asked to be the Australian reviewer for the updated PEN knowledge pathway and practice questions relating to gout, and in 2013 reviewed the diet and gout section for the DAA’s nutrition manual.
